American Nurses Credentialing Center Appoints Rebecca Graystone New Vice President

SILVER SPRING, MD – The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), which promotes excellence in nursing and health care globally through credentialing programs, today announced the appointment of Rebecca Graystone, MS, MBA, RN, NE-BC, as the new vice president of the Magnet Recognition® and Pathway to Excellence® Programs. In this role, Graystone will be responsible for the vision, governance and operations of all current and future credentialing programs recognizing nursing excellence at the organization, department or unit level.

Graystone has over 26 years of acute care nursing practice and leadership experience and has been with ANCC since 2012. During her tenure, she has managed the day-to-day operations of the Magnet Recognition Program and provided content expertise and analysis to applicants, commissioners, appraisers, Magnet organizations, Magnet Program and ANCC office staff. She has also presented extensively on Magnet and nursing excellence topics and teaches numerous program guidance courses sponsored by the program.

In her most recent role as the Director of the Magnet Recognition Program, Graystone spearheaded a strategic vision and plan to sustain a reputation as an internationally renowned credentialing program that recognizes health care organizations that promote nursing excellence and quality patient outcomes while providing safe, positive work environments. She oversaw efforts for the first Magnet®-recognized organization in continental Europe, Antwerp University Hospital. Additionally, under her direction, the 2018 ANCC National Magnet Conference® became the largest attended nursing conference in the U.S.

“Rebecca has a proven track record and a long history in supporting hospitals and nurses around the world in embracing the excellence inherent in the Magnet Recognition Program,” said ANA Enterprise Chief Nursing Officer Debbie Hatmaker, PhD, RN, FAAN. “Rebecca is well prepared and equipped to lead the incredible work taking place in these important ANCC programs as well as serve as a strong executive leader within the ANA Enterprise.”

Graystone is a baccalaureate-prepared nurse and received a Master of Science in Health Care Administration and Master’s in Business administration from the University of Maryland, University College. She has a certificate in Health Care Management from Georgetown University and is board certified as a Nurse Executive. She is currently a PhD student with a concentration in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration.
