American Nurses Association Board Appoints Jeff Doucette as ANA Secretary

Silver Spring, MD—The American Nurses Association (ANA) announced that Jeff Doucette, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE, FAAN has been appointed Secretary effectively immediately. The ANA Board of Directors made the appointment, as outlined in the association’s bylaws, to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Stephanie Pierce, PhD, MN, RN, CNE, of the Louisiana State Nurses Association. Dr. Doucette was a candidate for secretary in the 2020 election and will and will serve out the term that ends December 31, 2022.

Dr. Doucette, a member of Virginia Nurses Association, is currently the Chief Nursing Officer at Press Ganey, where he oversees improving the patient and caregiver experience, and developing nursing leadership at health care organizations nationwide. In addition, he plays an integral role in Press Ganey’s workforce initiatives, including its Workforce Well-Being Collaborative, which helps health care systems support caregivers as they deal with the ongoing challenges of the pandemic. Prior to joining Press Ganey, Dr. Doucette was Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Previously, he was Vice President of the Magnet Recognition® and Pathway to Excellence® programs at the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

He joins ANA’s current board members President Ernest Grant, PhD, RN, FAAN, of the North Carolina Nurses Association; Vice President Susan Swart, EdD, MS, RN, CAE, of ANA-Illinois; Treasurer Jennifer Mensik Kennedy, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, of the Oregon Nurses Association; Director-at-Large, Staff Nurse Amanda Buechel, BSN, RN, CCRN, of ANA-Illinois; Director-at-Large Jennifer Gil,  MSN, RN, of ANA-Massachusetts; Director-at-Large Brienne Sandow, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, of ANA-Idaho; Director-at-Large, Recent Graduate Marcus Henderson, MSN, RN, of the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association; and Jeff Watson, DNP, RN, NEA, BC, of the Texas Nurses Association.
