The position statement by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN), One Perioperative Registered Nurse Circulator Dedicated to Every Patient Undergoing an Operative or Other Invasive Procedure, maintains that AORN is committed to the provision of safe perioperative nursing care by ensuring that every patient undergoing a surgical or other invasive procedure is at a minimum cared for by a registered nurse in the circulating role, regardless of the setting.
